Jungle Safari 1st Birthday Bash

For Chase's first birthday party I decided to do a jungle theme since he really doesn't have many strong opinions on the matter, he has a jungle nursery, and he really likes lions. Although the last one is coincidence since I've been planning this party for about 4 months-long before he started liking lions. :) Anyway, we decided to have it outside so the kids could run around and just have more space. Unfortunately it was the night of the fire in Herriman so it was a little smokey but I think it still turned out okay. Emily's first birthday was more or less a disaster (whining, crying, wouldn't open presents, wouldn't eat her cake. Not what I had been dreaming about for her first year!) so Robert kept reminding me not to have any expectations. But I knew this one would be different because Chase is just an easy going kid. He did great and I was happy!

Jungle Grub

Favors and goody bags for the kids

Cupcake Herd
I forgot to take a picture of the cupcakes so I took this one of the left over cupcakes about three days later. Not the greatest.

The signs I made

Memory Tree

Presents
He got so many great gifts and we are grateful to everyone! When I was putting away his new clothes I got really excited for it to be fall so he can wear all of them! Super cute clothes and fun toys.

Emily wasn't very happy the presents weren't for her.

Cake time!
We didn't actually get to light the candle because it was so windy but it was fine because it's not like he could blow it out anyway. He loved it and did much better than Emily did with her first birthday cake!

Thanks everyone for coming and happy birthday Chaser boy!

And I promise this is the last post about Chase's First Birthday. :)

Mommy Time

For Chase's birthday I dropped Emily off at grandma's and decided to take Chase to do something fun. We went to the childrens museum, shopping, fountains, and lunch. He loved the childrens museum and I think he liked having some one on one time with me or maybe he just knew it was his birthday because he was such a happy boy! It was a great day.

He didn't really get what he was supposed to do with the balls. He just wanted to throw them. He's such a boy.

Our little mailman!

The market was by far his favorite part. He was running around like a crazy person with that cart and crashing into everything! It was hilarious!

Once again he just wanted to throw the balls. :)

It was definitely nice to have some one on one time with Chase. It's something I need to do more often. He's such an angel!

My baby is 1.

On Friday my little Chaser boy turned one. This was not an easy birthday for me. I was a lot more emotional about it than I thought I would be. This boy has been such a blessing to our family. He is so sweet and mellow and just an angel. Robert always asks me why I love Chase more than Emily. :) I don't love him more, just in a different way. But I REALLY REALLY love this kid. He's a momma's boy and definitely has me wrapped around his little finger. He melts my heart!

Chase loves everything boy. He loves cars and trucks and balls. He's 21 pounds 11 ounces and 29 inches tall. Robert calls Chase a wimp but I prefer to say he's cautious. He used to be terrified of my parents dog, his stuffed tiger, and a small stuffed dog that Robert's parents have. So maybe he is a wimp. :) He LOVES to climb on everything and he's very adventurous. He loves lions and can do a few animal sounds and loves to give momma kisses. He's such a cute boy and I'm so grateful to have been blessed to be his mom and to have him in our family.

Happy Birthday my little man!

Baby's First Haircut

My little Chaser had his first haircut. This boy had a mop on his head. It had been driving me crazy for weeks but for some reason I decided I wanted to wait and cut it for his birthday.

Before
Look at all that hair! I'm not gonna lie, he was starting to look like a girl.

During

He got a little nervous when she used the clippers on the back but she gave him a sucker and he was a happy camper for the rest of the time.

Look at that face! Love him.

After

I'm kind of glad all that hair is gone but it really makes him look so big and that part I don't like so much. He did so good getting his hair cut and he looks so handsome!!

First Day

Emily had her first day of preschool today. She was very excited and has been talking about it for weeks. She had a minor meltdown when I dropped her off which was a little embarrassing since no one else in her class cried or even cared that their mom was leaving but she was fine after a few minutes. My dad assured me that in a week or so she won't even notice I'm gone and then I'll be sad about that too. Which is probably true!

She colored some pictures and played some games among other things. One game was apparently something where they had to say "hocus pocus" because she kept saying it in the car all the way to grandmas. When I asked her how to play the game she told me "It's not for moms. It's just for kids in preschool to play." Well okay then. Love her!

It's Tough Being the Little Brother

Emily clocked Chase in the eye while carrying her plate. I think we're going to end up in the ER more than once with this kid. Just a hunch.
