We had a baby!

On May 20th at 6:54am we welcomed our new little man Logan! It was an exciting day!

I had a scheduled C-section for 6:30am which meant we had to be at the hospital at 4:30am. Needless to say the kids had a sleepover at grandma and grandpas house the night before.

Family of 5 for the last time!

Ummm.....yeah.
Bright and early the next morning we headed to the hospital. After an hour on the monitors, disgusting medication, multiple attempts to put in my IV resulting in a swollen and severely bruised hand that lasted for a month, and painful antibiotics we headed to the OR. The anesthesiologist had a really difficult time doing my spinal too. It was uncomfortable. I guess after three previous C-sections I'm lacking in spinal fluid. But finally.......
He's here!
out came this little guy! We were surprised by two things. 1. I thought he would be over 8 pounds. He was 7 lbs 5.9 oz and 20 inches long.
2. He has red hair!

So pretty! Not. But I was happy to be able to be taking Logan out of the OR with us! Both Chase and Carly had to have some time in the NICU so I was almost surprised that we just carried him out.
Isn't my mom so pretty?!

First bath.

He loved it.
In the afternoon the kids were able to come meet their new baby brother. Prior to his birth we were worried about Carly's adjustment. She was definitely unsure about him at first.
Chase was so happy to have a brother.
Brothers!
Still unsure.

Then the stream of visitors started coming. We didn't get pictures of everyone but it was so nice of everyone that supported us! It would be easy to not really care as much because it's kid #4 but all of our family and some friends came to visit. It was fun.

His first selfie.

His first Utah hat! From Uncle Trever and Aunt Diane!
Excited for their new baby brother!

Not excited for her new baby brother!

I love when newborns sleep with their arms up.

Our celebration sparkling cider. The hospital provides a celebratory steak dinner for the new mom and dad. Complete with mashed potatoes, rolls, veggies, sparkling cider, chocolates, and blue flowers! (Since we had a boy.) It was fun and surprisingly tasty!

Someone's excited to go home!

Sleepy Lion

One day Chase was throwing a fit about something (can't remember what it was) and I was just ignoring him. :) All of sudden he got quiet so I went to talk to him about his ridiculous tantrum. I found him like this. He stayed there for about an hour and a half!

Fire Station

Back in May, Emily went on a field trip to the fire station for preschool. I decided to take everyone along because I was hugely pregnant and looking for any excuse to get out of the house. Anywho, the fireman told all the kids to get a buddy. Chase and this little girl paired up and they held hands the whole time. It was so cute!

Wheeler Farm

A few weeks ago I took the kids to Wheeler Farm. I'm trying to get them out of the house as much as possible before the new baby comes and we're cooped up inside for awhile. Plus I hate summer so I want to enjoy the weather before it gets too hot. Which it already is. My mom and my brother came with. It was a little windy/chilly that day but that's just the way I like it. We took our lunch and had a good time.

Carly loved the rabbits!

Check out Em's outfit. :) Such a trendsetter.

Chase is so protective of Carly. She tends to have no fear, or maybe it's just a lack of awareness, and would sometimes get too close or try to stick her hand in the horses mouth. Chase would grab her to protect her. So precious!

Carly has no fear. Poor goose.

Vegas weekend

Emily had her first dance competition down in Las Vegas awhile back so we made a weekend out of it. My mom was kind enough to come along and we decided she needs to come everywhere with us. At least for the next few years. It's so nice to have another adult!

We left Friday morning. Drive down was pretty uneventful. As soon as we got there the kids wanted to go swimming.

After swimming my mom graciously offered to watch the kids so Robert and I could go out to dinner together. We went to a neighboring casino and had dinner then watched baseball at the sports book. :) When we returned, we found this!!
Emily lost her first tooth! She was so excited! And we found Chase like this. :)
Saturday was Emily's competition. Her very first one! It's a little weird to now be the mom taking my daughter to dance competitions and getting her ready and everything. For so many years it was my mom doing it and now it's my turn. Certainly makes me appreciate my mom though! It's so much work! Here she is ready to go.....
Handsome Chase

After she was done dancing we decided to go to the Strip. We have never taken our kids to Las Vegas and I can't say I'll be anxious to do it again anytime soon. Las Vegas is such an awful place. The Strip part anyway. I used to love going there. Not sure if it's because I have kids now or because it's changed but we HATED the Strip and couldn't wait to leave! All we did was go to M&M World and ate dinner at Rainforest Café and then we bee-lined it out of there! Such a gross and dirty place. We felt a little out of place too with a 5 year old, 3 year old, 1 year old, and me 8 months pregnant. We didn't exactly fit in. :) But Emily did love all the colored M&Ms!
And Chase loved the M&M Nascar car.

Too bad this picture is dark because I dare say it's the best family photo we've ever managed to get! Everyone is looking and smiling. That never happens!
You can see what I mean by the retake we attempted.
Instead of doing the other things on the Strip we had planned we just went back to the hotel and went swimming again. It started to get stormy and windy so it didn't last too long but the kids loved it. Robert found this gross book about snakes and lizards at Rainforest Café that he got for Chase. My mom was kind enough to read it to Chase over and over again for the rest of the night.
We left Sunday morning and stopped at the temple on our way out of town. Cleanse our palate from the gross Strip! Our kids LOVE seeing different temples so we always try to stop when we're somewhere that has one.

Emily loved envisioning the different spots where brides would take pictures. Chase was fascinated by all the grasshoppers on the grounds and Carly literally threw EVERYTHING into that fountain. Including the white tiger I'm holding, her sippy cup, her binky, and Chase's frog and snake he was carrying around. She is such a stinker!

All in all it was a fun and successful trip!

Can we get a normal picture?

All the kids climbed in Carly's crib and Robert tried to get a picture. Obviously it didn't turn out so well!

As good as it's going to get! Love these kids!
