Memorial Day Weekend

We had a fun and busy weekend. I love it when Robert has two days in a row off. It's amazing to think that's what normal people's lives are like all the time! Saturday I made a cake for my uncle who just retired as an air traffic controller and Robert and Emily made a tent and camped out that night in her room. She loved having snacks and watching movies with dad.


Sunday we spent some time with my dad at the park.

Monday we spent the entire day from 8am to 8pm in our backyard. Robert mowed the lawn for the first time and it only took about 2 hours. Yeah, our yard is big. We were able to get the entire garden area cleared of weeds (and filled up 12 30-gallon garbage bags), fix the fence, and set up our new little swing set which the kids are obsessed with. Well, maybe not Chase but he did like it. We were lucky enough to have some help from our family too. Even though we spent the whole day working, it felt really good to accomplish so much and we had a fun time doing it. Now it actually looks and feels like a real backyard!


We had a great weekend and now I would like another one please.

A Day at the Zoo

We took the kids to the good ol' Hogle Zoo the other day. Because of Robert's work schedule we don't have a lot of opportunities to do things together as a family so it was a nice treat. Emily was so excited and talked about it for days.




Chase liked it too.


The day after we went we asked Emily what we did at the zoo. She said "we went on the train, we saw my cousins, we ate, we went potty..." I hope that's not all she liked about it. We could have done that at home for a lot cheaper. :) But it was nice to have some family time. And anytime you can see a baby elephant, it's a good day.

We still have to fix the fence where it blew down in our last wind storm and clean out the garden but we're thrilled to finally have grass after two years of looking at weeds. Now if we could just find someone to mow it....

Love is a Battlefield

I don't know if you've ever seen these "literal videos" on You Tube but they are hilarious. My cousin shared this one on facebook. The dance scene cracks me up! But then again I am easily entertained. So if you have 5 minutes to spare you should totally watch it and all its 80's goodness.

Museum of Natural History

Today I took the kids to the Utah Museum of Natural History. The first Monday of every month they have free admission. I was a little worried that Emily wouldn't like it since she could not care less about Utah's natural history but I figured we'd try it since it was free. Luckily they have a dinosaur exhibit and she actually liked the stuffed animals and bugs. Ariel had a good time as well.

I'm not sure if you can see it but Ariel is laying next to Emily on the ledge. Apparently she wanted to see the dinosaurs too.
